Once again the All Aces Card Club invaded the 2015 WSOP Circuit event at Harrah's Cherokee Casino.
Thursday
Kathy and I, and Jon and Sophie all arrived Thursday. It was too late to play any of the events, but we were ready for Friday.
Friday
Kathy, Jon, and I played in the 9:00 AM Mega-Satellite trying to win an entry into the noon $365 ring event. It had a very quick structure with only 3000 in starting ships and the blinds went up every 10 minutes. There were 131 entries and they were giving out 17 entries to the noon event. Kathy lasted 3 levels. Jon did better, lasting more than 5 levels. I finished 35th. Close but out of the prize pool.
Jon and Peter decided to play in the noon event anyway. There were 581 entries and the top 63 would make it to the cash. Players were given 10,000 in chips and the blinds went up every 30 minutes. A good structure for a lot of play. Both made it very deep! Jon played for 9 and 1/2 hours and finally finished in 85th spot. Only 22 away from the money. They broke the game around 2:00 AM and Peter was still in it!
Kathy, David, and I decided to play in the $135 7 PM tournament. There were 428 starters for this one and they paid the top 45. Blinds went up every 20 minutes and I don't recall how many chips we started with. David and I lasted about two hours. Kathy dug in and played 4 hours to finish in 75th. So close!
Meanwhile Marv had made it down and was planning his play for Saturday.
Saturday
Saturday is the day we usually take time off to see the sites and pan for gold. Marv played in the 9 AM satellite and finished in the middle of th pack. He played cash games for the rest of the day.
Peter finished his game from Friday. He went all the way to 18th to score over $1800.
Peter and David tried the 5 PM $365 ring event, but nether could get traction and fell out early.
Sunday
Marv stuck with the cash games, and Jon and Sophie went home, but the rest of us entered the $250 Senior event. 8000 in chips and blind levels lasting 30 minutes should provide for a lot of play. It was also ring event this year (but no WSOP points). There were over 1100 entries (they haven't posted the official numbers yet). David was the first of our group to bust out, but he re-bought hoping the second time was the charm. I was next with just an hour of play. Kathy lasted 2 and 1/2 hours. David's re-buy lasted him until the 7th level (3 1/2 hours). Peter was going deep again, but fell out sometime before 5:00 PM. I know because he played in this event as well, but couldn't make it to the cash.
The club was well represented and everyone seemed to have a great time! Peter even made a little money. Great job to all. I'm already looking forward to next year!
